Hi there, my name is Lucia! I'm a retired veterinary technician with 5 years of both general practice and E.R experience. I've worked with all kinds of animals, from dogs to cats, from fish to rabbits, from snakes to tarantulas! My career in Vet Med was a very rewarding one, but it was also an eye opener to how behind the industry is.

Over time, I realized that while I loved the animals and their families, the work environment in the veterinary field had become increasingly difficult. Like many others in the profession, I experienced the emotional toll of burnout and the effects of a fast-paced, often unsupportive industry, for both myself and for pet owners. I knew I needed a change—one where I could still give animals the love and care they deserve, but in a healthier, affordable, and more sustainable way.

That’s how Bark & Broom was born. I wanted to create a service that not only supports pets, but also their humans—by providing trustworthy, compassionate care and practical help at home. Whether I’m walking your dog, keeping your home pet-friendly and clean, or making sure your furry best friend has a front-row seat at your wedding, I bring my medical knowledge, attention to detail, and deep respect for animals into everything I do.

This work means the world to me. It’s my way of giving back to the pet community while staying true to my values: kindness, reliability, and care that goes beyond the basics.
